Debbie just told me. :(
It's just sooooo sad. Funny how upset you can get over someone you've never met. My thoughts and prayers are with his family. I can't imagine what they're going through. :(

We were luckily enough to meet him when we went to Australia Zoo one time. He was such a down to earth and friendly guy

This has come as a real shock, very hard to digest. We've always joked around & done the old "crikey" bit like so many others. My stepson has the same name, lives in Qld & has fielded lots of emails, phone calls etc over the years with people assuming he was the crocodile hunter. Whilst doing some genealogy research 5yrs ago for another branch of the Irwins we discovered a connection (a 4th cousin or something on my DH's cousin side) I haven't mapped it out yet. We never got to meet him, this is just such a sad day for all of us.

OMG! I am in shock! The amount of times we drive past his zoo when at the coast and Jasmine gets all excited to see the billboard with him on it. She for ages thought he was one of the wiggles because of his part in the Wiggly Safari DVD. How sad! I really feel sorry for his poor family.. Just awful!

He is one of those people you just don't believe will ever die! :-( Very sad!

Rob just told me that he works with a woman that is a family friend of the Irwins. Apparently they still can't get a hold of Teri as her mobile is out of range. :(
How sad that the media didn't wait until Teri was informed.

Kirsty
4th September 2006, 04:01 PM
Yeah one of Stuarts friends mum works at Australia Zoo with them and she said the same thing.

It would have been nice if the media had waited at least till Terri found out.

Yeah. According to Rob's workmate, someone from the Qld government leaked the info to the media. Not a good sign for the election on the weekend.

Kirsty
4th September 2006, 04:10 PM
ooh thats terrible that they would do that

4th September 2006, 04:20 PM

Oh, girls--Austin just told me the news--he is sad. Steve was such an icon, not only down under, but worldwide. Lisa has a good point, that he died while doing what he loved, but it's such a tragedy so young...what a shame. Many blessings to his family as they now grieve, and have to endure the media as well...

I agree Pam.. I can't imagine how awful it must be having to deal with the media while grieving.. They showed footage of his family boarding a charter plane..how hard it must be for them to have to deal with that.

tarty00

Yeah it is horrible the way the media jump right in their faces isn't it. I think they should leave them alone and let them grieve, especially those two kids. They don't need the constant interruptions. Still in shock here!!

I have decided I better spend some time updating the family tree now - it's been very badly neglected over the past 18mths or so.

I've watched the media coverage this morning on Sunrise, and I must say they've handled it well. Although I do think they should leave Teri and the kids alone.

Also i went to my sisters yesterday and she said there are already jokes going around about his death through moblie phones not even 24 hours after he had died. Who in there right mind would do such a thing . oh it makes me sooo mad.
